WE arrived in Siem Reap after taking a six hour (!!!) long bus trip from Phnom Penh. It was stinking hot to say the least. We caught a tuk-tuk ride to our hotel for the night, checked in, chucked our togs on and dived straight into the pool. It was heaven (: We missed out on heading up to the Temples to see the sunset though, so we went for a wander through various night markets and past bustling restaurants to find a decent place to have a feed. We found one, then satisfied our appetites before heading home to have a good kip before a full-on day at the Temples of Angkor.
In the morning we got up to have some brekkie, before getting our trusty tuk-tuk driver Kieng to pick us up and take us out to the vast temple complex. We (when I say ‘we’ I mean dad) decided to do a bigger loop of the smaller temples on Day 1, and leave the big beauties of Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat for Day 2. So it began … walking around a million temples in what felt like 40 degree temperatures. Not exactly ideal when you have to walk up almost vertical staircases that were wearing away… What kept you going was the fact that afterwards you could have a breezy ride in a tuk-tuk to reach your next destination (: That evening we walked up a mountain with a temple on top to watch the sunset, along with what seemed like another 1000 tourists. The tuk-tuk driver told dad that it was fine to take beer to the top, so dad brought two 640 ml bottles of Angkor Beer. Mum and dad were only halfway through one of them when the security guy told them off :L I laughed (: The sunset was a bit of a disappointment, as with 20mins of sun-setting to go Mr. Sunshine decided it would be funny to disappear behind a cloud. Not cool 🙁 so we headed off home. That night we looked for another restaurant to go to, and found a nice one that had free popcorn 😀 I was in heaven. The waitresses were very funny to talk to, and like everyone else they were amazed that I’m only 14. Seriously, people think I’m like 18. Weirdos. Anyways, dinner was amazing and we met a couple so we sat and yarned for a few hours, and the popcorn kept flowing (: it was a good night, followed by a good sleep, for me anyways.
Sounds like your having heeeeaaaaps of fun 🙂 eating all that popcorn 😉 well your having a far more interesting time than me , going to school haha , have fun on the rest of your journey !! x
