Underground in Cu Chi

We took a bus trip out to the Cu Chi tunnels. They are a network of tunnels devised by the Viet Cong army covering 200kms underground. It was a hot day and we didn’t have long underground. The entrances and tunnels were very small – designed for the Vietnamese! It was an interesting experience – and not one for claustrophobics!  we crawled 100m, but some of the group bailed after 40m. We also saw some of the dreadful torturing devices that were used. Not for the faint hearted..  On the way we visited a laquer wood factory that employed disabled people. It was an interesting day, led by a young Vietnamese guide who loved his KFC. He did not go underground! His nickname was ‘Panda’.
