Travelling Through Small Coastal Towns

Over the last few days we have come along the coast and visited some small towns. These included those mentioned below with some of the memories and highlights.

Marmaris: stayed at a pension that had the fattest cat in the district! The supermarket in the middle of town and our landmark had been demolished .

Datca: difficult to find our apartment, but were pleased when we did. We had our very own washing machine! Met Janine and Arne the ex kiwi and Dane, (Sydney) motorcycling back to Denmark through Turkey. Went to a cool local market. Got soaked in a downpour returning to our apartment after dinner. Took a ferry to Bodrum ……..

Bodrum: We took a small bus to the harbour and boarded the ferry. It took both vehicles and passengers. It was a two hour trip. However it was a little choppy and there were some white caps. The waves rolled in, and then a couple of big ones hit along with a loud smash. The ferry tilted and the tea glasses, pots and boiling water went on the floor in dozens of pieces. Also a small truck loaded with heavy ornamental trees moved and slammed into the side of the ferry and bent some railing. All a little scary when you are the ‘foreigners’. But the tour guide assured the girls it was minor, and the truck should have been tied down.
